What Is He Trying To Tell You?

Proverbs 19:20-21 Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.  Many are the  plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Are you open to the wisdom of godly counsel or have you set your mind on what it is you want or think?  No matter what it is in life you may be facing or the decisions you need to make, make sure that you are open to godly wisdom, don’t just keep seeking advice until someone tells you what you want to hear.

Make sure that whatever it is you are planning or thinking on, lines up with scripture.  A good place to start is with the 10 Commandments that are so often ignored and considered old school even though Jesus said that we are actually called to something even higher than that.  (Matthew 5: 27 – 48). No, we don’t live under the Law we live under God’s grace and the fact that Jesus gave His life for our sins, but that doesn’t mean we can live any way we choose and say and do whatever we want!  If we truly want to live a life that honors God we need to strive to be more like Him.

God’s desire is for you to walk with Him and for you to be able to live a life that will draw others to Him.  Life is more than difficult some days so trust me, the last thing you want to do Is to try to live it your own way, with your mind set on what you want or think.  If you are set on finding “counsel” that will agree with you then you are wasting your time and you might as well face the fact that you are not truly seeking God.  Remember Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Do you really think that having your own way is better than His way?  He knows what is best, He knows what is true and He alone knows what will give you “hope and a future”.  Don’t seek your own way, seek His!  Set aside your own agenda and open your heart and mind up to His leading.  You can’t have His best if you aren’t willing to follow His lead.

If you are at the point where you just aren’t sure what you are supposed to do then spend more time in His word and on your knees.  Seek His face. Don’t bolt forward doing your own thing. Seek godly counsel making sure that advice lines up with God’s word.  Don’t ignore those 10 commandments.  Ask God for His grace to be all He has created you to be!

1).   Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all your heart mind and soul

2).   Thou shalt have no other gods before me

3).   Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain

4).   Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy

5).   Honor thy father and thy mother:  that thy days may be long upon the earth.

6).   Thou shalt not kill

7).   Thou shalt not commit adultery.

8).   Thou shalt not steal

9).   Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor

10)  Thou shalt not covet.

When you line your thinking and your life up with what God says that is where you will find His peace and success for your life!
