What Is On Your Mind?

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable ~ if anything is excellent or praiseworthy ~ think about such things.

Do you ever get to the point where you feel as though your brain needs a vacation?  There’s just so much going on in the world and in your personal life that it seems impossible to escape and just have a moment for one sane thought.  The world is all upside down and backward so you have to shut out most of what you hear on that level because it just doesn’t line up with what God’s Word says.  There’s next to nothing to watch on tv and you can’t trust most of the news so what can you do?  

It is time to take our thoughts captive as it says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 and choose what is influencing our hearts, minds, and families.  Abby (16) and I frequently have the conversation about how important it is to choose carefully what we feed our minds.  I always used to say, “make good choices” but we have changed that to “make the best choice”.  That’s a lot for an adult, let alone a teenager, I know but it is still possible and it is still what we are called to do.  If we want God’s best in our lives then we must continuously make the best choices ourselves on a daily basis.  It is a constant battle for your heart and mind and yes it can be exhausting if you are trying to do it all on your own.  Take it all to God.  Choose wisely and teach your family to choose wisely.  Set the example.  You can’t tell your children to make the best choices and then make poor choices yourself.  There are tv shows, books, and magazines out there that should never be in your home!  Children learn what they live. 

Take some time today and allow God to refresh your heart and mind.  Even if it is just 10 minutes, lock yourself in the bathroom if you have to and get alone with God.  Ask Him to calm your heart and mind.  Ask Him to give you His thoughts.  Ask Him to give you a clean heart and a right attitude.  Ask Him to give you the strength to make any changes He puts on your heart.  Ask Him what His dreams and plans are for you and your family!  He wants to walk through life with you!  He wants to be a part of everything you do and He wants to guide you into all that He has for you and all that He created you to be!  Life can be tough enough ~ don’t miss out on a close relationship with Him!  Truly if you walk with Him, His best is yet to come in your life!
