Psalm 121:1-2
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

What can you do when disaster strikes? When you look around and you feel as though there is just devastation everywhere you turn, then what? When you feel as though you are fighting a battle on every side and your strength is running out, how can you make it through?

There are so many people, right now, that are having to deal with the disaster that comes after massive hurricanes roll through, destroying everything in their path! First there was Harvey hitting Texas and now Irma striking several states, destroying and flooding everything and there are fires in our states out west devouring everything in their paths and Mexico is trying to recover from a 8.1 magnitude earthquake, followed by Katia another hurricane! And that is just in this little part of the world, there are struggles, wars and disasters striking people all over the world. How do you even begin again? What is next? Will life ever be good again?

When you are faced with disaster, when you are overwhelmed, when you are so depressed you can’t even lift your head to seek God’s face, what can you do? Where will your help come from? No matter what your situation is or how overwhelming it may seem, God can and will see you through if you will just fully rely on Him. This is not all on you and you don’t have to go it alone! He wants to carry you through. Allow Him to guide you! Allow Him to bring others into your life to help! Seek Him! Lean on Him! Focus on Him instead of the struggle at hand! Your God is bigger than your circumstances! Your hope is found in Him! Allow Him to show Himself mighty in your life! If you can, turn on some praise music to lift your spirits, don’t turn on music that will make you focus on the problem, you need music that will help you focus on just how awesome and powerful your God is! He will get you through to the other side of this and you will be better for it, even though that seems really difficult to believe right now.

Now, how about those who aren’t going through a major tragedy right now, what can you do? You can be the hands and feet of God! If you can go and serve those who are facing disaster, go! If you can’t go, maybe you can support the need by donating to someone like “Feed The Hungry” (I do not get anything for promoting anyone or anything that I promote, I just want to help you find organizations that you can trust). Feed the Hungry is already helping in Texas and Florida and are looking to help in all of the other areas who are in need of emergency relief. There are some popular organizations that may raise a lot of money but little goes to help, so you have to look in to what and who you are giving to, don’t just give because the cashier at the grocery store asks you to. Choose wisely who you are giving your hard earned money to.

Maybe you are fortunate enough to not be facing disaster but you can’t go and you are really in a position that you cannot give and that is ok! Pray! All of us can pray for the relief and comfort for those who are struggling today! Prayer is the most important thing all of us can do! Let’s go boldly to God’s throne today and ask Him to show Himself mighty in the lives of those who are suffering in some way today! Let’s ask Him to provide the relief that is needed around the world so that people will see and know it is Him! Let’s pray today that power is restored quickly to all those who are without power today! Let’s pray for God’s grace and mercy. Let’s pray for encouragement and strength for those suffering!

Hold on to the fact that God loves you and He will see you through! When I am overwhelmed and feeling beat down, this is one of my favorite songs: “Shoulders” by For King and Country
