Ephesians 4: 15-16  Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Well it sounds like Paul is saying that it is time to ‘grow up’!  This verse is great because even though he is talking about the church it is also true when it comes to marriage and relationships.

We each need to focus on areas we need to work on individually instead of being so concerned about what someone else needs to be doing to ‘grow up’.  For example; when you go to church do you pray before the message that God will somehow speak to your spouse’s or children’s heart about something that you know they need to work on or do you ask God to speak to your heart through the message to show you areas you need to work on?

If we will all work on ourselves and ask God to work in us to help us to be more like Him we will find that God will be able to work in and through us all on a deeper level.  When two people who are married both grow spiritually the bond between them is stronger by far than it is when one of us is growing and the other is at a stand still. When each of us works on growing spiritually it works to help those around us grow as well.   We are all called to ‘grow up’!  There is always more room for growth in our lives so never settle for where you are!  In order to fulfill all that God has called you to, you must continue to allow Him to work in your life and grow you into all that He created you to be!

Now, here is something to consider; if your spouse or child or friend is at a stand still in your eyes and you feel as though they are not growing, pray about it but don’t make them your mission.  You are not the potter, God is so allow Him to work in their lives, focus on you and what you need to be doing to grow spiritually.  If God needs your help, He will let you know.  Just be the godly example you are called to be and take them off your potter’s wheel and allow God to work in their lives.  Sometimes we get so caught up in fixing someone else that we miss what God is trying to show us.

Ask God to show you today any areas you need to work on and pray for those around you to be all they can be as well.  When we are all growing together in Christ we are more affective for Him and God will bless our efforts on a whole new level.
