While You Wait

Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”

Several years ago I owned my own hair salon and if there was one thing I learned real fast, it was that people do not like to wait for much of anything these days.  I set up the waiting area so there were toys for small children to play with and we had magazines almost coming out of our ears (they kept coming, for free, no matter where I moved for 7 years after I sold the salon!).  There were times I would even let someone tan for free if we were behind so they had something to do.  Why exactly am I telling you this?  Well, if you are in God’s waiting room, maybe you need to pick up a magazine!  God will not leave you in that waiting room with nothing to do!  Find out what He is giving you to do.

If you have done all you can for your situation and you are waiting on God, then it is time to figure out what He is giving you to do while you wait!  It could be something little or it may be a huge project, or maybe it’s a Ladies’ Bible study. Focus on today and what He has for you to do today, don’t worry about how soon your answer will come or what you will do tomorrow ~ do what is in front of you to do today!  So, is there laundry to do or maybe a book to read?   Whatever it is He gives you to do, it has its purpose so pick it up!  I used to tell people when they came in to tan or get their hair done that if they saw something in a magazine they wanted or an article they wanted to share with someone, or a recipe, to just take the whole thing home and just like that, there are some things you can do that will just stay in that waiting room when you are done with it and God moves, and there are some things that will move with you when you leave the waiting room!  I have no idea what your “magazine” is, but I would encourage you to look for it!  Ask God to show you what He would have you do.  Maybe you are like some of those people in my salon and maybe the best thing isn’t for you to pick up a magazine, maybe you need to “tan” ~ maybe this time is meant for you to heal and rest!  Don’t feel guilty for downtime, enjoy it because you never know what God may be preparing you for that will require that extra energy (that doesn’t mean it is something bad).  Sometimes when you have been through a terrible storm in life or you are heading into new training God just wants that quiet, restful time alone with you so soak it up!

If you will ask God today, He will show you what His plan for you is while you wait!  You don’t need to sit there stressed out over the situation ~ God has your answer and He is working even when you can’t see it!  So, don’t miss out by worrying or getting frustrated because it hasn’t happened yet!  Focus on God and your walk with Him.  The answer is on the way ~ He didn’t bring you this far to only bring you this far ~ If you are still here then He still has a plan and He is working out the details!  Allow Him to work in and through you while you wait!  Trust Him in the wait knowing that truly His best is yet to come!
