Who Is It Really About

Esther 4:13-14
Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, “Do not think to your self that in the king’s palace you will escape any more than all the other Jews. For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

That was Mordecai’s way of saying, “it’s not just about you Esther unless you make it that way and then you are the one who will end up paying for it.” Nothing is really ever just about you. If you are married, it’s not all about you – it’s about your spouse as well and it’s about his/her job and his/her family and his/her friends and his/her needs. If you have children it’s not just about you – they are usually quite needy little people even when they become adults, they can still need you. If you have a job, it is often about what your job requires. Life is rarely just about us, it’s hard to even find solace in a nice bubble bath some days.

God has called you to where you are at this moment in time and it is up to you to understand that you can figure out what part you have in where you are and be used to your fullest ability or you can sit and try to figure out how you can make it about you! Oooo – ouch! We should rejoice in the fact that there is a purpose for what we are facing, it isn’t ‘all for nothing’. There is so much more to life than what we see so we have to trust that whatever God is doing today it is to bring out the best in us and in our situation. He has a plan for you just like He did Esther. Poor little Esther was thrown into a much bigger situation than she could have ever dreamed of, she was yanked out of her home and thrown into a situation where she would never marry the “man of her dreams”, she was either going to be the kings wife or his concubine, but either scenario was going to be an uncomfortable one. She ended up being married to a man that if she walked in to “his throne room” and he wasn’t happy to see her, she could have her head cut off! How crazy would that be? If I walk into a room where Bill is and he isn’t happy to see me – too bad, my how things have changed. The point is, we need to look at where we are and try to see beyond what is uncomfortable and see what God has planned for us that reaches beyond just ourselves.

Ask God today to show you how He wants you to see “where you are” and what your purpose in this is. Ask Him to give you His wisdom, comfort and peace for all that you are facing. God has a plan and He will use you in this if you will allow Him to, if you don’t He will find someone else – is that really what you want? Ask Him today to show you what you can do to be used by Him and to give you a vision for all that He has planned. There’s a lost world out there and as long as there is, it will never just be about us ladies, we must continually seek out how we can better be used by God to draw others to Him!
