Word Check

Psalm 12:2-3
Everyone utters lies to his neighbor, with flattering lips and a double heart they speak. May the Lord cut off all flattering lips the tongue that makes great boasts those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail, our lips are with us; who is master over us.”

Ladies, we need to give our words over to God! We need to be careful that the words spoken are words we don’t mind answering to God for. We hear over and over that our words can bring life or death to others and yet it takes making the decision to change our words and guard our tongue! Matthew 12:36 says, “I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,” Does that mean anything to you? Are you willing to continue on with the way you talk to and about others knowing you will stand before God one day and answer for it?

We are called as men and women of God to be different. 2 Cor. 6:17, “Wherefore come out from among them and be ye separate,” saith the Lord, “and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.” Dare to be different! God isn’t going to excuse you because you use the excuse that you were raised that way. When we know something is wrong in our lives we are called to change them. We should never accept something as being ok for any reason if God has told us it isn’t.

God wants you to have His heart for other people! He wants you to care about that other person that doesn’t quite “measure up” to your standard ~ your standard needs to become His and if it isn’t you need to adjust yours! God’s desire is for others to see Him through you! Do they? Do you show His love to others by your words? Do your friends see how you talk to other ladies to their face and then hear you talk garbage behind their backs? If you have a problem with another lady, take it to her, not your friends. If you aren’t going to take it to her then don’t take it to anyone at all other than the Lord! Be a woman of your word! Be a lady that either speaks in kindness what she means or doesn’t say anything at all! There are times it is best to just hush! Don’t use terms like, “bless her heart” to be cruel or hateful and don’t use the fact that “I just speak my mind” to be heartless or cruel. Psalm 19:14, “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”

Ask God today to show you if this is an area that you may need to work on! Give Him your words and ask Him to help you be all that He created you to be starting with your Words. Your words are coming from your heart so if you fix the heart condition, you will fix your words. We all have “heart conditions” we need to work on. None of us are perfect but that isn’t an excuse to allow it to slide. Pray today that God will shine through you and that your words will be an example to those around you!
