Luke 1:30:33
And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

I find such great peace in the story of Mary and Joseph and Jesus being born. I can only imagine all the thoughts that must have raced through her head. I am sure that as tradition would have it they taught their children from early on about the coming of the Messiah one day. They had no idea just how or when that would happen. Mary had to be excited beyond words and yet somewhat terrified at the responsibility that came with carrying the Son of God! What a tremendous calling.

Did you know that you are chosen of God too? God has a purpose for your life that is very important and dear to His heart as well! Whatever God has called you to do you will find His favor in it! Just as the angel told Mary you have to set aside your fears and move forward with whatever God is calling you to do! God will give you the direction just as He did Mary and Joseph for all you need to do as it comes along if you will listen and follow Him. God didn’t just give them His son to raise and then leave them on their own and He won’t leave you alone either. Whether it is a new job, the mission field, raising your children or leading a new group at your church, God will be there and He will guide you with His wisdom if you will allow Him to!

Now, we can’t all be Mary obviously, but what God calls you to do is still very important to Him, so don’t make light of whatever it is and do it with all your heart. God will give you His wisdom and favor and you will be amazed at all you can accomplish. Follow Him with all your heart! Get excited, there are no little calls in life. You are called by the Almighty God so don’t take that lightly. He loves you and wants the best for you! Dig into His word, seek Him and then follow Him with all your heart, mind and soul! Allow Him to guide your every step.
