Esther 2:8
So when the king’s order and his edict were proclaimed, and when many young women were gathered in Susa the citadel in custody of Hegai, Esther also was taken into the king’s palace and put in the custody of Hegai, who had charge of the women.

We always make this sound somewhat like the “Cinderella” story, but in all seriousness, this had to be terrifying on many levels. Yes, if she were “lucky” enough the girl would become queen, but if she wasn’t……. all she would ever be was a concubine. Esther had already been taken from her homeland with her parents who passed away and she was raised by her cousin. She was more than likely quite young, much younger than we would consider here in the U.S. to give to someone to marry. She was beautiful and sweet, but do you really think she thought she had it together enough to be the queen of the land? When you read the book of Esther you realize that she was also wise for her years, so I believe she understood when she was taken that this was not just some Cinderella story or “The Bachelor”.

How are you feeling at this point in the “story” of your life? Have you got this or has God dropped something in your lap that you are feeling as though could be beyond what you feel qualified or able to do? God has built within you what you need to succeed at this, just like He did Esther. Don’t allow what has happened to you in your past, or where you have come from, or divorce, or the lifestyle you or someone else in your life has lived keep you from His palace! Remember Ruth? She was looking to be able to glean from the field to have enough food for her and Naomi to eat and God wanted her to own the field! Remember Joseph? He wanted out of prison and God wanted Him in the palace! Remember the Israelites in the Wilderness? They wanted to go back to Egypt (captivity) and God wanted to give them the Promised Land (Freedom)! Allow God to use whatever is going on or has happened for His glory and for your good.

God has given you what you need, you need to keep telling yourself that over and over ~ “I have what it takes to do this!” Turn all those lies and self doubt around and replace them with what God has to say! God has created you with the ability to do what He is calling you to do! He will equip you in areas you need help in! Dig deep girl, hold your head up and walk in the confidence that God is by your side! Don’t waste another day just sitting there, get busy doing what He is calling you to do! The best is yet to come!

Love this- it was exactly what I needed to hear today after a draining weekend of parenting with my husband away, and feeling like I’m not able to love my daughter well enough. God has made me for this- she has been perfectly designed for us and us for her, and I can rest in the fact that Lord will equip me with all I need. Thank you for the reminder!!

Hey Liza, I am sure you are a wonderful Mom and I agree that God has equipped you and will continue as she grows! If you are ever looking for a good book on parenting, I love the book a good friend of ours wrote, “Safe House” by Joshua Straub Phd. Keep pressing in to God and He will give you all you need! God Bless, Janet
