Proverbs 24:30-34
I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of a man lacking sense, and behold it was all overgrown with thorns; the ground was covered with nettles and its stone wall was broken down. Then I saw and considered it; A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.

This guy probably didn’t start out as a sluggard when he first bought his field, maybe he ran into some difficulties and he became overwhelmed so instead of starting someplace and working his way through it, he did nothing at all.

Do you ever feel as though you are just so overwhelmed with all you are facing and you know there are things that you need to do but you just keep putting them off in the hopes that maybe it will either take care of itself or maybe just go away? Well, I am going to tell you from experience, they don’t go away and they certainly never take care of themselves, but they do grow out of control if they are left to themselves. Just like this mans vineyard, if the things you need to do are left to themselves they will become overgrown and will be a bigger issue than if you just attack it today!

Procrastination is a killer! Procrastination can make you a sluggard if you aren’t careful!

If today, you have several things that you know you need to take care of but you have been putting them off because you don’t feel like facing it or dealing with it, let me suggest that you take the worst task and get it out of the way first! As I once read in a book I bought from “Simple Truths”; “if you have to eat frogs, eat the biggest one first!”. The longer you wait to tackle that, the worse you will feel about it and the more other things will mount up to make you feel worthless and overwhelmed!

You will be amazed at how empowered you will feel if you get started, get that big thing out of the way and just march forward, taking one thing at a time until you are back on top of your situation! If you aren’t certain how to handle something, go to God and ask for His wisdom and understanding! James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”

Stop putting it off, make a list of what needs to be done, prioritize it and get it out of your way! This list may even include that you need to spend more time alone with God, hmmmmm, certainly don’t put that one off any longer! No more excuses, let’s tackle those obstacles and be empowered to be all we can be for Him!
