Psalm 119:92-93. If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have given me life.
Do you ever hear yourself mumbling the words, “Lord, I just don’t know how I am going to get through this, I can’t handle it anymore!”? There are times when we are being stretched that we get to that point of feeling as though there is no way we are going to make it even one more day under the pressure, but remember, always, that God is faithful!
Have you ever watched the show “The Biggest Loser”? Those coaches push people to their absolute limits and often they just feel they cannot do it anymore and sometimes some of them quit and walk away but if they endure and follow the rules the coaches set down for them they lose weight and they find the victory they are looking for on the other side of it all. They stretch not only muscles in their workouts but they stretch them emotionally often to the breaking point where they are forced to face their “demons” that are holding them back. That is often the way it is when God is trying to “stretch you to a new level in your walk with Him”!
When the heat is turned up on your life and you feel you can’t take it, where are you going to turn? The Psalmist here focused on God’s Word and found hope in it and that is how he made it through all of his struggles. When he felt as though his life was over or about to be and when he had no idea what to do anymore he found life in God’s precepts (precept: n – meaning- a rule or principle for action)
When we look for our answers in other things or other people we often get more frustrated and discouraged. We always have to remember that our hope is always found in God! He has all the answers so don’t get frustrated and try to figure it out on your own, get in the Word and find His precepts and His promises for your life and hold onto every word. Don’t allow Satan to discourage you with lies or tempt you to go it alone. God’s love for you is immeasurable so why would you trust in anything or anyone else?
If you need direction or encouragement today God is more than happy to give it. Pour your heart out to Him and focus on His promises and all He has done in the past, whether it is your past or the history of all He has done for people in the Bible. Hold onto His word, allow Him to comfort you and guide you through it and you will find His blessing and peace in it! Walk in faith knowing that God loves you and He does have a plan as it says in one of my favorite verses in the Bible: Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” The best is yet to come just hold on and remain faithful!
