Psalm 55:22, “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved.”
Even if you don’t have something going on in your personal life that is weighing heavily on your heart, there’s plenty going on in the world that can cause your heart to be heavy. I know right now thousands and thousands of people are mourning Charlie Kirk’s murder. It has devastated so many, and my heart is broken for his wife and their families. Our grief is not always personal, but it can all be taken to God. David was a warrior, but he was also a man who was able to freely express how he felt. Over and over again, we see him pouring his heart out to God in Psalms, and here he is encouraging everyone to just unload your burdens on the Lord because He can take those burdens for you and use them all for good and for His glory!
God wants you to bring everything to Him, the good, the bad, and the ugly! He loves you, and He wants you to pour your heart out so He can heal your heart and work in that situation! His shoulders were built to carry your burdens; yours aren’t. He can do something about all of those situations that you can’t do anything about. He sees the big picture, and you are a part of that picture, and He wants to work in you and in every situation you bring to Him in your life! Let’s face it, satan knows his time is short and he is doing all he can to make everyone as miserable as possible. God wants to guide you and strengthen you because you are His ~ He knows your name, He knows the heartaches, He knows what it will take to bring you into all He created you to be! He loves you!
I know I have probably mentioned this before, but one of the things that has always impressed me about David is that his complaints were not against God; they were focused on his enemies and the situation at hand. He praised God for God’s faithfulness and for who God is. His anger was not misplaced toward God; it was directed at his enemies as he poured His heart out to God, his Rock, Redeemer, and vindicator. Don’t allow your anger at that person or situation to become misplaced and turned toward God, your solution. The Bible tells us that we aren’t fighting against flesh and blood….Ephesians 6, we are fighting against the powers of spiritual darkness, and God is on our side! Turn to Him. No matter where you may live, I would encourage you to also pray for Israel and for the U.S. and our election. God is faithful! Trust Him with your whole heart with absolutely everything!
