Because you broke faith with me in the midst of the people of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin, and because you did not treat me as Holy in the midst of the people of Israel. For you shall see the land before you, but you shall not go there, into the land that I am giving to the people of Israel.
Everyone seems to want the call to lead others, even though God calls some to follow. There would be no one to lead if everyone had the call on their lives to lead. Being a follower is not a lesser call if you are following the will of God. What so many “leaders” fail to recognize is the responsibility of leading. Moses was a great leader but he got angry one day and his reaction was wrong ~ God told him to speak to the rock and water would come out but in his anger Moses did his own thing and as a result it made him the focus instead of God in front of the people he was leading.
Whether we are leaders or followers is not the most important thing, it all comes down to whether or not we are following God and giving Him all the glory for all that we accomplish. If your goal is for you to be the center of attention and the most important thing in all that you do, you will never experience the true goodness of God, just as Moses missed going into the Promised Land, you will miss out on His best for your life as well. God’s best always comes from following Him, so see even if you are a leader, you need to also be a follower. Don’t allow your leading position make your head big, allow it to make you humble before God so you can be guided into all that He has planned!
God is good, He is always good and we need to display all of His goodness in our behaviors all the time. We need to reflect all that He is to the world around us, sometimes that may be in taking a firm stand for all that is right and there are times it is showing His love to those who have never experienced it, allow God to guide you in all that you do.
The best leaders are also the best followers because their focus and wisdom comes from God!
“The measure of a truly great man is the courtesy with which he treats lesser men.”
