Revelation 5:11-12
Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
Praise for God and who He is should always be on our lips. We cannot praise God enough for all He has done, is doing and will do in our lives and the lives of others. The more we read about Him, the more we praise Him the more we will want to praise HIm.
I remember as a little kid hearing about being in heaven and how everyone was going to spend eternity praising God and I remember thinking, “how boring, when will we get to play?” 1 Corinthians 13:11 “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child……” There is a time though, when as the rest of the verse says, “When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.” The way we mature in Christ is to spend more time with Him, the more time we spend with Him the more we will learn to speak, reason and think like someone who is more mature spiritually. I am sure when we get to heaven our desire when we meet Him will be to continuously praise Him and there will be more we are to do as we are forever in awe of Him.
God deserves our praise everyday so don’t just save it for Sunday. The more we praise Him and acknowledge who He is the more we will increase in our faith. When God asks us to do something it is always designed to bring blessing to those who obey Him. Think about it: when we are struggling and we praise Him we are encouraged in our situation because we are reminded of who He is and that He has the power to make a difference. When we choose to obey instead of sin we don’t have to live with the consequences of that sin. He always has our best on His heart.
I would encourage you to take the time to praise Him everyday. That doesn’t mean you have to necessarily break out in song, but you can spend time in prayer thanking Him for who He is and all He has done. Honor Him with your praise!
